Dental Veneers

Veneers are one of the most common techniques utilised to enhance the smile and most people are aware of celebrities that have had them fitted during smile makeovers.

Typically, veneers are ceramic laminates which are very thin and bonded over the front surfaces of teeth. They are capable of providing dramatic aesthetic enhancement.

Tooth preparation is not always necessary and must be determined on a case-by-case basis.

When teeth do require preparation, the external  surface of the teeth are re-contoured as required. Impressions or digital scans are then taken and provided to the ceramist for construction of the veneers.

Temporary veneers are immediately placed over the teeth after re-contouring to protect them. When permanent veneers arrive, the temporary veneers are removed and the final ceramic veneers are fitted.

Ceramic laminate veneers can be used in a variety of clinical situations usually to improve the colour and shape of the teeth. Teeth may become discoloured for multiple reasons ranging from trauma, medication (e.g. tetracycline), lack of mineralisation, fluorosis, internal staining.

Veneers also work great when minor teeth alignment adjustment is necessary and the patient does not want to have their teeth straightened by undergoing orthodontic treatment.

Ceramic veneers are considered the gold standard treatment to achieve outstanding even beautiful smile that lasts a long time.
